GONE FISHING

Lately I have had a lot of time on my hands and I have been doing some things that before I did not have time for. I cleaned out the garage, sanded and oiled some chairs on the deck and took Sophia fishing.

We went to Lake Springfield and tried our luck. No fish were caught but we did have a nice water snake come on land right at our feet and then slink over a couple feet and start sunning himself. Sophia thought that was pretty cool!

Three questions:

1) Walnuts or almonds?

2) Did you know I washed my car for the first time since 1993?

3) Did you know I, a bottom feeder, beat Cale in a 3D archery shoot?

PERSISTENCE PAYS OFF

The shell that did it, Winchester Xtended Range, 3 1/2 inch no. 5 shot

My neck is injured

The damage was extensive from only 25 yards

Something happened to my fan

I have been turkey hunting a lot. This is the second year I have tried it and the first year I have tried calling. I have had birds in gun range but I was hunting with a bow. I have had lots of birds who would gobble but not come in. I have had birds close but the brush was so thick you could not shoot. And I have had birds that happened to be on property I could not go on.

Today it all came together and I was back at the truck at 6:08 am! I went to a spot in Ozark that a friend of mine owns where I had called a group of gobblers for almost an hour yesterday. I got in before light and had a gobbler on a ridge to my right that would gobble but not move. I changed strikers and here he came. When he was getting pretty close a turkey on my left comes down from a tree. He had never made a sound. He immediately heads straight toward the decoys and I can see he is a juvenile gobbler with a beard. I said to myself, "Well that is that". One shot of 3 1/2 magnum twelve gauge and he was a goner. I scooped up all my stuff and the turkey and headed to the truck.

I was home before it started raining eating turkey breast.

Three questions:

1) Did you know Katie is now 26?

2) Would you eat wild turkey?

3) Did you know Chrysler might pull Youngblood's franchise?

Neil Spongecake Nelson turns ten today. Happy Birthday to the best dog you could ever ask for!

Three questions:

1) Where would you live if you could live anywhere in the USA?

2) What one thing would you change about your appearance?

3) Do you think I should shave my head or grow a beard?

Bye for now,
Shane
