FLOOD AND MUD

As you may have heard the Finley came up in a big way. My store is right on the river and we have had some run ins in the past. Only one time, in 1993, has it made it all the way into the main building. Tuesday it looked as though the second time was on the way. We spent all day moving cars and sandbagging over plastic around the building. It was a helpless day as you watched muddy water rising toward the place you make your living and support your family. After about ten people asked, "How is it going", I lost it. The next guy that asked me that got this response, "How the f*#k do you think it is going!" People are so dumb. About a thousand looky-loos came down to see the river and were in our way as we were trying to prepare for the worst. About 7:30 pm it looked like we were done. The river had completely surrounded the building and was about a foot away. By 9 pm it had started to recede! Luckily it did not make it in the building. We lost two days of business but it could have been much worse. Now we just have a lot full of stinking mud!

Three questions:

1) What is the longest trip you have taken on a bus?(24 hours)

2) Do you have big Easter plans?(Every day is big with The Pink Panther around)

3) Is Skippy still married?(I hope so)

COOKIES CAN CAUSE PROBLEMS

On Friday Cale and I headed to St Robert to camp and scout some property for hunting. My lovely wife had baked some cookies for us to snack on and we had the bag in the front seat of Big Red. As we were cruising down 44 a semi decided to come into our lane with no room to do it. Just like his great bike handling skills, McAnutt can handle a truck too! When he slammed on his brakes to avoid hitting the semi the cookies flew out of the seat and under the brake pedal, the only problem with this was that we did not know this had happened. When the truck acted like he was going to try our lane again McAnutt had to use the brakes once more. Now he noticed the cookies because he could not use the brakes. Luckily he handled the situation and we survived.

We were also lucky to survive camping out on what was the coldest night in March in the history of St Robert. It got down to 15 degrees officially, but I think it was about 10 degrees where we camped. When you were by the fire it was nice and you thought it was not that bad. When you climbed in the tent you changed your mind! I am a very warm-blooded person and I was cold. By the middle of the night I was completely inside of my sleeping bag with my hat stuck through the opening to seal everything up. If you had any gap you would get a rush of cold air. It was so cold in my tent that when I went to check the temperature at 4 a.m. my phone just shut down and would not come back on until I plugged it in the truck outlet. My hat also had ice on it when I woke up. It was one cold night of camping.

The deer scouting went well and we found several spots to hunt this fall. I also got to try out my new climber with the help of the seasoned pro McAnutt. It worked very well and should be great to hunt out of. I plan on going back a few more times to scout and maybe coyote hunt. I also plan on taking Sophia up to run around and see the place. Mr and Mrs Bohrer have some mules and horses she could feed and she loves being outside so I know she would enjoy it.

Three questions:

1) Have you heard Bobby Knight might be the next basketball coach at MSU?

2) Would you rather have a CZ or a Kimber?

3) Have you ever seen a coyote hung on a fence post?

Shane

IT MIGHT BE COLD

Cale and I have had a camp and scout planned for some acreage up near St Robert. It is a property we will be deer hunting on this fall. We thought March would be a good time. We are camping Friday night. It is going to be 11 degrees!
