RIDING WITH THE DEVIL

Being it is Halloween I figured I would go ride with the Devil. Actually not the Devil, just I LUV THE 80's! I called Mike and Dr Ned to see if they wanted to get a ride in and away we went. Thank God Mike had done 90 miles on Tuesday and this would be a "recovery" ride. We had a great time and ended up with 48 miles.

Bud that is four rides in eight days!

Three questions:

1) When was the last time you saw them baling hay on October 31st?

2) What kind of riding lights do you own?

3) Have you seen the Timex iControl watch?

FOR THE LOVE OF BUD

Day to day setup with Ksyriums(the seat bag is cool, you should get one).

Another great ride on the new bike today. Took my brother "Jeff" out and we met Dr Ned for an easy cruise. Bud, if you are counting, that is THREE rides this week. That is correct three rides and I work sixty hours a week. I did not notice much dust on the bike.

LARRY BIRD?

I am leaning toward "Larry Bird" as the bike's new name. He certainly was very white like the bike and he was quite the badass. I could call it Larry or The Bird. Cracker and Honky still have a chance also.

Three questions:

1) Does Jimmy(1) have a girlfriend?

2) Will TM beat The Lion(Captain Negative) this weekend?

3) Should the Cardinals have kept Tony "I Pass Out In My Car" Larussa?

THE FIRST REAL RIDE

Today I took the Scott out for the first real ride. Dr Ned and I did the Antioch ride from his house east of town. The great thing about that ride and how we did it was the triple(Antioch hill, Buena Vista Ranch hill and 134 hill). That kind of hurt. The bike performed flawlessly and since it was real, real windy I wanted to use this ride to see what happens when you ride 404 Chubbys in the wind. I was pleasantly surprised at how well they did. Only a straight across crosswind was even noticeable. All in all, it was a great ride.

My bike is really badass and really white. Larry Bird was really badass and really white. It might be the one.

iBud Cross

Brutal cross course just to watch. A green bean wearing a dress won the B race. Cale was having a bad day, was it the day The Lion should have pounced? Butthead is FAST! All who raced did a great job and are some hard riders.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

2008 Scott Addict

404 Chubbies just for The Lion

Full carbon frame and fork

For my 40th birthday I told CJ I wanted to get a new road bike. She said it was probably time and I then ordered one. It finally came in and man am I happy to have it. Been a while since I had a new bike and this one looks like it will be worth the wait. It is very, very light and Mertz approves of the white! Maiden voyage on Sunday before or after the cross fiasco.

Three questions:

1) What should I name the new bike?

2) Will Cale lap The Lion?

3) Will Jerred win the B race?

THE WINNING TICKET

On Friday Seth and I went to Cabool for the annual Homecoming Game. It was The Dogs versus the Ava Bears in a SCA showdown. Because of it being homecoming The Pit was packed with fans. You couldn't hardly find a spot to stand, much less sit! Cabool has a pretty good team and so does Ava so this was going to be fun.

The cool thing about going back is seeing all the people you know and never run into otherwise. Because of this it sometimes takes several minutes just to go to the grill area or bathroom. During one of these runs I was asked to buy some raffle tickets. I never win so I just said I would donate a couple of bucks to the booster club and call it good. The lady running the raffle, Stacy Matherly, was having none of that and made me take two tickets. If your ticket was pulled then you won $25 for every touchdown the dogs scored in the first half and got a chance to throw a football through a hole and win some more. I really didn't think much of it because I never win crap! About half way through the second quarter they called the ticket number and it was mine(I had given the other to Seth)! Out of 207 tickets I had actually won. The dogs had scored two touchdowns at this point so I had won $50! As I was finding out the particulars of the contest they broke a long run with less than a minute left in in the half and were inside the twenty. How about a quick score and another $25 for good old Shane! Then they did score again and now I have won $75 and still get to throw. At half I went down on the field and they had a big board with three holes in it. The largest one was $25 then a slightly smaller for $50 and a pretty small one for $100. I got three throws and could throw at any one I wanted and would then win more money if I made one through. They set everything up at midfield and took out a string that they said was ten yards long(bs, it was a good fifteen yards to the board) and that was where I was to toss it from. I figured I would try the $25 first to warm up and then go from there. I missed slightly with the first and was glad I did not hit one of the little cheerleaders holding the board(after the contest the cheerleaders did call me SIR!) Now the pressure was on with thousands watching and my QB reputation on the line. I went for the $25 again and scored. Now I had won $100 and decided what the hell and went for the $100 hole. I fired and it hit the edge and fell to the ground, almost had another $100! Oh well, I had turned $2 into $100 and had had some fun. When Coach Easter presented me with the money I told him that I wanted to donate it to the football team and hoped it could do some good. I also had my picture taken for The Cabool Enterprise. The rest of the game was a blast and Cabool squandered a 20-7 lead and lost 28-26. It was still fun and if you have not been back to your old school for a football game you should go. Sorry Bud you now can only go to a soccer game.

IMPORTANT ITEMS OF NOTE

My new bike is in and should be ready this weekend. I will have photos soon and will probably have it at Bud's. We may ride to the race or after.

Bud's race is looking like a good time. A little too hot probably but the smack talking should make for a good time. Make sure you come out and bring your dog to poop in Bud's yard so Jimmy(1) has to clean it up.

Three questions:

1) Why are bike shops run so loosely?

2) Why does Jimmy(1) only date loose women?

3) When will McAnutt loosen his grip on The Lion and the rest of the Springburg crossers?

GOLF TOURNEY NEWS

Played in a golf tournament at Hidden Valley on Saturday. It was a four person scramble and we ended up shooting six under. We probably should have shot a little better but since all four of us are not very good then we did ok. We ended up winning second place in the B flight and each pocketed twenty dollars! The main thing is that it was fun and we raised some money for our church.

I am looking forward to the cross race this weekend. Should be quite a shootout with The Mansfield Lion, McAnutt and Butthead. I hope the weather is really, really bad and Jim has to run around all day holding the umbrella for iBud.

Three questions:

1) Do you think New England will go undefeated?

2) Is Nate racing at Bud's?

3) Did you see Curb Sunday night?

BUSY SUNDAY

Today was a busy one. Church, mow, ride with Dr Ned and dinner with the girls. Makes a day go by fast and makes it a fun one. It was hotter than hot riding today. I think my driving that SRT8 is causing some global warming!

This week my bike should be in and I will post some pics of the new ride. I also need to come up with a nickname for it. It is a white Scott Addict. Any suggestions would of course be appreciated.

I know I have said it before and I am biased, but my daughter is the most gorgeous child ever!

Three questions:

1) Have you heard The Search by Son Volt?

2) How did Hogan's Heroes do in the twelve hour race?

3) How many suits do you own?

Shane

SHAVED LEGS, VEGAS & NEW BIKE

Recognize anybody in this picture?

The new bike should be in soon. I am quite excited and it will be nice to have for some winter riding. The wheels are not going to be in for a little bit, but I will survive.

The questions involve leg shaving for cyclists so here goes:

1. Electric or shave cream?

2. How high do you shave?

3. Do you shave year-round?

4. Do you shave your feet?

MILESTONE

Yesterday we reached a milestone at the Nelson house, we took down the gate at the top of the stairs. When The Pink Panther started crawling we put it up about two years ago and now it is finally down! When you go up and down the stairs it looks totally different.

I also went for a ride in the wind yesterday with Dr Ned. We headed from his house out to Strafford and back and it was a bit gusty! When you can't talk to each other because of the wind noise it might be a little windy. Hopefully my new bike will be in soon and my 404 Chubbies that go with it.

Three questions:

1) Did you know I finished fourth in our company poker tournament?

2) Have you seen the new Cycles gear(the jersey even has an iPod pocket)?

3) Who will win first, Notre Dame or the Rams?

Bye for now,
Shane
