OFF TO KIAWAH

Tomorrow we are headed to Kiawah Island for vacation and to attend a wedding at The Sanctuary. The Pink Panther is ready to "get on a big plane and go to the beach". It should be an interesting trip.

While there I will be playing as much golf as possible and eating lots of seafood. We will also spend some time on the beach and in Charleston. I should have lots of pictures and a report when we return.

Three questions:

1) What type of pasta is your favorite?

2) Puma or Saucony?

3) Do you like to fly?

AND YOU THOUGHT YOUR FAMILY WAS BAD

Last week I went on a trip to Kentucky. The purpose of the trip was a memorial service for my grandmother Mary Ellen. She passed away four years ago and donated her body to the University of Kentucky Body Bequethal Program to be used in their school of medicine and dentistry. They were now finished with the clinical work and were having a service for her and several other people who had also donated their bodies.

Myself, CJ, Seth and Sean headed for Kentucky early Monday. It was a pretty fun drive over with CJ, Seth and I mostly making fun of Sean because he slept the whole way. That boy can sleep through anything. We would put the window down on his side, turn on the heated seat, violently turn the car from side to side at 80, etc and it still did not bother him. In three days and two nights he slept about 32 hours. I guess that was good because if he was awake he was bitching about something. Politics, conforming to society, his life, getting older and on and on. He got to be real annoying, real quick. A couple of times Seth wanted to kill him and I had the same feeling once or twice. He may not go on many more trips with us.

When we got to KY we went straight to Dad's house to see him and any other family members who might be present. When we pulled in I noticed that his yard looked like it had not been mown in several weeks. This makes no sense to me because he is retired and has gas and a riding mower! So five minutes after a long drive we are mowing and trimming my dad's yard. I love my dad but it is amazing to me that we are related. After we mowed the yard(and did some plumbing work) we settled in. My father had several family members in from out of town and they are an interesting bunch:

Dora. Dad's first cousin from Warrensburg who is so called because of her bad haircut.

Chester. Dora's husband who we are 99.9% sure is having relations with his daughter. Poor dressing, cowboy hat wearing and daughter boning are not good things! He and his daughter went on one or more errands alone per day and would be gone for a long, long time. I will say that for his age that boy can get it done.

Daddy's Girl. Chester's daughter. Wore revealing clothes that only revealed major hail damage and other things unsightly! She had on some shorts that were so short when she took a step her ass cheek would be exposed. Not pretty. Best of all when she was relaxing on the deck she picked a booger and ATE it!

We say they are sleeping together because he kept hitting her on the ass and saying how good she looked and they were touching each other too often. The long errands also sent up a flag. YUCK!

Summer. Husband to another of Dad's cousins that lives in Mississippi. Summer because some of his teeth are over here and some over there. He actually had one tooth that was round. Where do you get one of those? He also had an eye that did not seem to function properly. If you got caught with this dude an hour of your time would be gone forever. He actually told me he had not had a chance to chat with me much and he hoped to catch up later in the trip. I did not respond but later that day Seth abandoned me with him and I was in hell.

There are other characters that were there but I am running out of time. I also got to see Sean in his manties, be within three feet of five smokers smoking inside at once and play poker with a bunch of guys Dad knows. During the trip I laughed a lot, was utterly disgusted a lot and wondered how I ever turned out the way I did.

The return trip was not too bad and we made it home safe and sound. I will say the 300C with navigation and rear DVD we took was great on the road. Not bad gas mileage for so much horsepower and I got to watch two movies.

Three questions:

1. Who do you think will get married first; Emery, Skip or Jimmy?

2. Have you ever received a Sonic gift card from Jimmy?

3. Did you know on Wednesday CJ and I will have been together for ten years?

Bye for now,
Shane

p.s. In all seriousness the memorial was very nice. The university was very nice in showing their sincere appreciation for the donors. My grandmother was able to help many people after her death. Mary Ellen Nelson, Mimi to us, was as sweet, funny and loving person as you would ever want to meet. If the world was full of people like you we would be much better off. I love you and will never forget you.

KENTUCKY OR BUST

Well it is 3 a.m. and I am getting ready to get CJ and my brother Sean up so we can go get my other brother Seth and head to Kentucky. It should be a fun trip with the only drawback being that The Pink Panther is not making the trek with us.

One question with three answers:

What were the three most important inventions that had to do with farming in America?

GOODBYE STAPLES

On Thursday I went to see Dr C and have him remove my staples. Was in and out in twelve minutes! Got the ok for the company golf tourney this weekend and for the football game in July. Only restriction is lifting anything over thirty pounds for a while, good thing The Pink Panther only weighs 24 pounds!

Going to Kentucky with both my brothers and CJ on Monday. Should be an interesting trip. It will also be strange to leave Sophia until Wednesday. I bet Moms will have a tough time with that one.

TM you are quite lucky sounds like.

Three questions:

1. What the F is wrong with Greg Lemond?

2. What do you put on your popcorn?

3. Have you ever been to Alaska?

FRANKENPENIS

On Thursday it was time to take the bandage off from my surgery and take a shower for the first time in two days. My groin was pretty sore from the procedure and I was taking my pain meds because of that(even though I hate pain pills). When I pulled the bandage off I was surprised by the size of the incision! I thought it would be maybe two inches at the most and I did not know if it was glued, sewn or stapled shut. Turns out this thing is four inches long and has eleven staples in it! No wonder that thing hurt! When CJ got home I told her I had taken the bandage off and she said she wanted to see it, so I showed her. She was shocked at how bad it looked and was surprised at the size of it, bruising and large number of staples. Because of the location, nasty bruising, amount of staples and size of the incision it has now been dubbed FRANKENPENIS!

Three questions:

1) Do you know anyone who wants to buy a single-speed mt bike or a cross bike?

2) Have you ever been stitched or stapled?

3) Do you know who Chococat is?

RECOVERY

The last few days have been spent recovering from hernia surgery. I had it done at Cox on Tuesday and have been off since. Heading back to work tonight so MC can have his regular time off. Everything went very smoothly with them using a plug and mesh to fix it. Some pain but not too bad. It does help that I am about as tough as they come.

Everyone else around the house is doing well. We are getting ready for a short trip to KY this month and then the big
family vacation to Kiawah Island in June. Both trips should be fun and especially the SC one as Sophia has never flown before.

I also included another pic of The Pink Panther. She is really coming into her own and can be the sweetest thing in the world or the most stubborn. I wonder where she got that from?

Three questions:

1) What is the longest stretch you ever went without showering(one weeek for me during hell week)?

2) What do you wear to bed(underwear for me)?

3) Has anyone seen the movie Half Nelson(I have not)?

PICTURES FROM IRAQ

These pictures come from a lady I went to high school with. Her husband has been in the military for several years and has done several tours in Iraq. On April 1 they were traveling in their vehicle when they hit an IED and you see the results. He said the force of the blast was so strong that they could not locate the engine of the vehicle! One of the men riding in the vehicle had to be evacted out but the rest only received minor injuries. After this happened they found the people who set the IED and the whole group of twelve was eliminated. He said Iraq sucks.

Three questions:

1) Do you think blogging is dead?

2) Who will win, The Iceman or Rampage?

3) How mad is Beechnut about the Mavericks?

THE BIRTHDAY BOY!

Today is Sponge's Birthday! The world's most famous Airedale turns eight(which makes him now 55 in dog years according to his weight). Hard to believe the old boy is that old. Still in perfect health and loving life. For his birthday he got a nice walk, some treats and a promise of a haircut! Thanks for the last eight years and here is to eight more to come.

Three questions:

1) What is your favorite number and why?

2) Did you know Brad was in Sports Illustrated?

3) Have you heard about McAnutt and Thumbstein tearing up the competition?

Bye for now,
Shane
