OAK TREE HERE I COME

Tomorrow I will be tackling some downed oak trees with Dr Ned. Nothing like free firewood! It should be good firewood cutting weather with the high of only 26. The Stihl loves the cool weather so it should work out just fine. After the wood cutting CJ and The Monkey are coming to Ned's to visit his girls. It should be a good time and I need as much wood as I can get. Next week I plan on tackling that monster tree that I love the 80's is sporting and McAnutt you are welcome to come along.

Three questions:

1) Who is your pick to win the Super Bowl?

2) Did you know we sold eight cars today?

3) Do you like Brad's teams new uniforms?

Bye for now,
Shane

CHOPPIN' WOOD

Because of the recent storm and the slow down in construction my brother has been making money cleaning up yards. He cuts the wood and stacks it for the people and hauls all the brush to the curb. He also rakes up all the small twigs and gets rid of them. To help him out I have been joining in on the fun when I can. If you know of anyone who needs this done he charges $20 an hour and works quickly yet still does a thorough job. Most places are charging $75 per hour so he is a bargain. He can also do lots of other stuff like clean your chimney, gutters, etc. Get in touch with me if you have any questions.

Three questions:

1) Can you believe in less than a month Sophia will be two?

2) Mike M do you still need that BIG tree cut up?

3) Did Jimmy get his thumb fixed too?

Bye for now,
Shane

p.s. The picture of Sophia is just for fun.

ICE STORM 2007

First of all I know that my problems caused by the storm are minimal compared to others and this is just my tale of woe.

Power has been out off and on since the storm hit. Most times were for just a few hours with a long of nine. We currently have power.

Our heater downstairs has been out since Friday. Turns out the mice were not the only problem and we have an issue when the 2" exhaust pipe goes to 3" and causes some water buildup. My brother and I are fixing it tomorrow so that should make it where we have heat downstairs. Even with the fireplace we have seen 50 degrees in the morning.

Saturday night we were all in the kitchen and then the house is shaking and there are limbs flying all around and we hear a big kaboom! Our next door neighbor had a large limb, about 18" across, that split off from his tree and fell on my house. Luckily it did not puncture the roof and may have only hurt a few shingles. Because of all the tree trouble it is still on my roof! My tree service I use is backed up from all the downed limbs so I may have it on my roof for some time. I have included pictures.

Three questions:

1) Have you ever burned hedge(Osage Orange) firewood?

2) Have you thought about buying a generator?

3) Did you know that last week I holed out from the fairway on 18 at Millwood from 135 yards using an eight iron?

FOR SCOTT'S MUM

This picture is for Scott's mom so she does not have to look at the mice anymore and it also happens to be my 200th post.

2007: YEAR OF THE MOUSE?

Had a customer come into work on Friday who had no heat in her Jeep. She said that the fan would not come on and that no heat was coming out of the vents. After she got here one of the techs found a mouse nest made out of blankets in her heating system. They pulled out three handfuls of blanket and part of a mouse. Her heat now works perfectly and she is keeping an eye out for mice.

On Friday CJ called me and said our heat was not working properly downstairs and the thermostat was trying to kick over to the auxillary unit. We do not have an auxillery unit so we knew something was up. Over the weekend we used the fireplace to keep the temperature over sixty downstairs(we have a different unit upstairs) and waited for Monday so we would not have to pay weekend rates for someone to come check it out. On Monday a guy came to look and found that mice had built a nest out of insulation in the burner compartment of the unit! Are you kidding? Mice strike twice in one day?

I used to think mice were cute and even let some live that I have found at work or home. No longer! All found mice will be fed to Sponge or one of the cats from now on and the traps and poison are coming to the Nelson house.

Three questions:

1) Which team was more overrated, Ohio State or Notre Dame?

2) Would Florida now be called THE University of Florida?

3) Do you like tater tots?

Bye for now,
Shane

FX in the DIRT

FX is probably my favorite channel. Or at least tied with HBO. They have some of my favorite programs including and not limited to; The Shield, Nip/Tuck(Byron's old show), Rescue Me(tied with The Wire as the best show on tv) and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia(the funniest show on tv!). I enjoy these all very much and they have several other good programs like 30 Days. I always tell CJ how good the station is and that she should start watching some of the shows with me. We currently do not watch any shows together. This year they have a new show with Courtney Cox called Dirt. She plays an editor of two tabloids and with their past record I figured it had to be good. I talked CJ into watching it with me and boy does it suck! Probably the worst show ever on television. Now she probably won't want to watch anything with me(is that bad?). DO NOT WATCH DIRT!

Three questions:

1) How many tires do you use if you ride 19,000 miles in one year?

2) Have you heard Mark Bilyeu's album First One Free?

3) Can you believe that the Chiefs suck again(big surprise)?

Bye for now,
THE Shane Nelson

p.s. The picture is just a bonus. Isn't she cute!

NOTHING EXCITING

Not much to report from the Nelson Camp. Everyone is well and winding down from the holidays. The Monkey is still as cute as ever and her vocabulary is ever expanding. If anything exciting happens I will report it here.

Three questions:

1) Did Ryan and Jim ever escape the snow?

2) Was 417 there to capture the story?

3) Did you know in 2006 I went on a total of five(5) rides?

Bye for now,
Shane

p.s. Go to this article and at the bottom look at the slideshows of pictures. They are pretty good. http://www.velonews.com/race/cyc/articles/11410.0.html
